My friend purchased a Toshiba L505-es5018 with a faulty HDD. After replacing the drive, inserting the Windows 7 installation disk triggers loading the Windows logo, then a black screen appears with backlight. I plan to try a USB installer tonight but need suggestions.

The issue might be linked to missing GPU drivers. Check them to resolve the problem.

The same issue occurs with USB installers just like it does with disks, even when connected to an external monitor.

It might seem like a GPU problem, but does your BIOS show any output?

shows bios, boot menu, initial loading, and starting screen of the disk are visible, along with my Hiren boot CD. I plan to install Windows on the HDD using my desktop, preload some drivers, and then insert the preloaded drive into the laptop.

You might experience this odd interaction when using my Acer laptops with the WD Black drives.

I'm dealing with a more recent Toshiba drive and I'm confident it will function.
