I'm dealing with GTA V or similar games and suddenly everything slows down like it's cursed. The HDD seems to be working hard, but the Task Manager shows only 5.5GB RAM used—even dropping to 4.8GB—and claims 0MB free while saying 2GB is available plus a lot of cache. This is really confusing. Anyone know how to fix this? I just reinstalled Windows 7 yesterday after updating from Windows 8.1, and it's the only app hogging RAM. There are also two IE11 updates failing, so I stopped trying them.

I mentioned that the biggest RAM consumer is GTA V.

Defender is inactive and MSE real-time protection turned off. EDIT: Temperatures are normal, verified multiple times.

Save your game, turn on your PC and check again. It might be a memory leak issue.

I've experienced this before. Restart behaves like a full game restart initially, but after a short period it works fine until memory limits are hit. Then it switches to using the pagefile, which significantly slows things down.

The description might be misleading. Task Manager doesn't always show the exact amount of RAM available; it can vary based on system settings and background processes. Checking your actual RAM usage gives a more accurate picture.
