Windows 7 32-bit issues causing system crashes
I have a Windows 7 32-bit machine that keeps crashing and showing blue screens. After running some system checks, I ran health reports but don’t understand what they mean. I recently installed a new graphics card, thinking it might be the issue, or my PSU wasn’t powerful enough. Even with integrated graphics, the problems persist. I can access logs if you can help me interpret them. Windows Support suggested restoring to the earliest system restore point when the issues began. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I suspect the graphics card isn’t the cause, but I only have about 10 days before returning it if the problem continues. The health report and Device Manager indicate everything is functioning correctly. (Apologies for missing formatting. I’ll update as soon as I post.)
I contacted Microsoft tech support again with more information. As a result I have learned a few things. 1. Windows 10 is still free. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10 2. They try reallly hard to try and get to you upgrade to windows 10, or give them more money. Spoiler Hello, I am back from the restart 5:57 pm Me I opened device manager, selected view and toggled "show hidden devices" and nothing showed up. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. 5:58 pm Patricia Isabella D That's good thing meaning its works again. 6:00 pm Me Okay great! 6:00 pm Patricia Isabella D Awesome. 6:01 pm Me Now I cannot recall the service that wasn't working from the health report 6:01 pm Me I had no idea how to find out what the service was, nor where to find services. My 2 issues were a driver for DODDriver4.3 or something was a hardware driver I needed to uninstall and the service was Windows defender. I had identified both as the tech support representative tried really hard to not say these things in broken Philippines attempted English. This does not make me like Microsoft any more than I already don't. I then tried testing system stability by playing Stalker Call of Pripyat. The game loaded pretty well. I engaged the first enemy I saw and died. upon reloading the system blue screened and I was unable to read the report before the system restarted. Whilst typing this reply I had experienced a system crash restart. From an earlier conversation with EVGA's 24/7 technical support it was suggested my motherboard may be the problem. The article at: google.com/amp/s/www.pcmech.com/article/motherboard-failure-diagnosis-solutions/amp Has mentioned motherboard failing signs that I have experienced including odd horizontal lines. Screen shaking left and right, crashing, temporary black screens, crashing when stress is put on the system. (like video games.) My Athlon ii X2 270 idles around 30% most of the time with just task manager. However the % usage jumps around quite (like 8% [Yes-Eight] to 60%) a bit even when not interacting with the computer. I can test the graphics card in another motherboard, and I will test the RAM to be absolutely sure it is the motherboard. I have no idea how to test the CPU as the article suggested a way to test Intel CPUs with an intel proprietary program, but not AMD CPUs.
I expected something was off with this kind of setup... life in the zone isn't exactly smooth. The Stalker game Pripyat is the most visually striking install. With the same graphics card, hard drive, HDMI cable, monitor, but a different CPU slot and RAM, I managed to run it without any crashes. I was able to play Half-Life 2 and Arms Cold War without issues. It seems the problem might be with the motherboard CPU or RAM. I can't pinpoint which one, so testing will go on without the GTX 1050 Ti to avoid further damage. I'll check other computers that use the GPU instead.
