Attempt to set up the installation on your work computer. If the setup fails, format the drive where you installed it and try a different operating system.

Setting it up and trying to turn Windows on is the best method to check its usage. The system doesn’t offer an online "key verifier." You might reach out to their support, but probing for specific keys could trigger security alerts. It’s safer to avoid that approach.

To the best of my understanding, yes. However, additional issues could arise: A. Does the PC belong to you? Were you the buyer? If it isn’t yours but from a bigger company, you likely won’t have access to the BIOS or even the ability to boot from a DVD. B. Are there any important files stored on the hard drive right now? If yes, make sure to back them up.
