Imagine your friend just finished assembling a new computer and used a USB stick to install Windows 8.1. Would it be possible to simply connect that USB into your own system and have Windows appear without cost? That’s an interesting thought, but it wouldn’t actually work in practice. The installation process requires specific setup steps and compatibility checks, and using a USB drive alone won’t guarantee a proper boot or functional OS. It might seem clever, but it’s not a reliable method.

Sure, if you own your CD key, that's great!

You could try it, but it would only work for about a month before the trial ends, after which you'd have to purchase another key.

You're not wrong about the repeated criticism of the activation process. It seems like @iamdarkyoshi is consistently pointing out its shortcomings.

Don't let the trial run out too long, or you won't remember it.

There are several options to maintain the wallpaper: Check out the guide from @iamdarkyoshi on his page.

The wallpaper on my computer remains active by itself, and the system only shows a notification without any pop-ups, just the alert text.

You require a key for activation, but installation is still possible.

you can't modify the wallpaper; it stays in the same spot no matter what you do. even when you open chrome, it doesn’t move. i wasn’t pirating windows, and after a repair install, microsoft didn’t activate my copy. a few days later they activated it for me using remote control.
