I have Windows 2012 running as a VM (Workstation) I restarted it by accident and now it is stuck on please wait for the past 20 minutes. What shall I do?

Is the server operational with Active Directory (either as a member or a domain controller) and does it establish a live network link upon booting? I've faced this issue with domain controllers; they take an extended time to retrieve AD credentials at startup. If it's not running AD or part of a domain, attempt a hard reset using the command prompt as @MSWindowsinside, and try launching it without connecting to the network adapter. You can reinstall it after reboot if that resolves the problem.
