Hello, I set up a fresh Windows 11 installation on the AM5 platform. All drivers, including GPU and chipset, are installed. However, in Task Manager, the CPU runs between 4.00 GHz and 5.00 GHz with a 2-5% load. My system uses an B650E-F from ASUS, updated BIOS, and GSKILL 6000MHz/32 with AMD Expo 1 profile.

Task Manager isn't accurately capturing Ryzen's clock speeds, particularly when idle. Consider using Ryzen Master or HWInfo to get more precise readings. Additionally, Ryzen's idle performance is quite low—just 2-5% usage can trigger it to jump above 5GHz, and it maintains at least one core active for quick responsiveness.

I've noticed clocks with hardware monitors showing 5GHz speeds, while power consumption reaches up to 35 watts. It seems unusual without further consideration. Downgrading the BIOS could help determine if that makes a difference.

HWMonitor struggles to interpret Ryzen information accurately and rarely succeeds. HWInfo often provides better results, though Ryzen Master tends to be the most dependable for reliable data. A 35W idle power consumption is typical for these processors. Their idle mode can be quite sensitive, with even simple tasks like Windows Update or Discord alerts triggering it. Programs such as Spotify, Discord, Chrome usually start automatically, which is normal for Ryzen chips. You might consider testing a different BIOS version if you prefer, but it’s unlikely to make a significant difference.

The issue might be due to missing information in the control panel, or the AMD Power Plan isn't properly displayed there. Check if the settings are visible elsewhere or confirm the correct configuration.

You might need to turn on PBO depending on your setup and requirements.
