Windows 11 version 22H2 is available for your computer.
Hey everyone, after I moved my parts into the new case and set everything up, instead of the usual desktop, I got a message about getting Windows 11 for free from Microsoft. Since I haven’t seen any issues with it, I stayed put and waited for the update to install automatically. Now I’m worried about this happening again and don’t want to end up with another Windows 10 install. How can I stop this from occurring?
You can turn off secure boot and/or TPM 2.0 settings in the BIOS. This might prevent your PC from satisfying the update criteria. (Be careful—don’t disable TPM 2.0 if you rely on full disk encryption or similar security features.)
I'll attempt that shortly. Edit: it functioned and successfully removed the downloaded update. Not impressive with MS, honestly. No, it installs whatever version is on your flash drive. I'm using Windows 10.
I noticed the code was H22H2 but only checking if I wanted to download it. I paused the updates until I couldn't click anymore.
