Clear. While no tool is flawless, the advantages of Defender clearly surpass its drawbacks, making it much simpler to handle than many competing third-party audio software options.

If third-party virus tools operated smoothly without interruptions, I’d likely keep them installed all the time. However, because they’re intrusive and compete for my focus, I usually remove them once I’m done and switch to a simpler setup. Defender doesn’t bother me, but it’s tough to manage and often clutters the registry. A clean interface in third-party programs would be much better, as Microsoft struggles with user-friendliness.

Yeah, the only reason I had McAfee was because it came on my computer with it from dell, so I figured its fine, right? ig it was for about a year. Anyway, update on whats going on, my computer is now usable without AV slowing it down, but the lag issue is not gone, unfortunately. I think I'm going to try reinstalling some drivers now. Some more info if it helps anyone find any solutions, it feels like whenever my gpu is loaded, the cpu gets blocked waiting for something to render, but it blocks the entire cpu.

I believe I resolved the lag problem. Earlier I tested a virtual display driver to create a fake monitor for VNC, but eventually stopped using it since my other laptop’s screen was terrible. I didn’t fully remove the virtual display beforehand, which might have contributed to the issue. It seems the problem only appeared recently and has now disappeared!
