Windows 11 remains unresponsive for 30 seconds upon entering the PIN (RESOLVED)
Hey guys,
I'm facing a problem with my fresh Windows 11 Pro installation. According to the title, the computer boots up in just 5 seconds, but when I enter the PIN, it freezes for about 20 to 30 seconds with the circular loading animation before showing the desktop. I've checked with a software tool to see what's causing the delay at startup and found no app-related issues. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Remove your password and measure the time with or without it as you see how long it takes to boot to desktop. You'll need to adjust the timing manually when using the password to reach the password page, then pause the clock while entering the password, and restart once you hit enter. What changes in timing would occur between these two methods?
After spending numerous hours exploring every possible option, including the advice from @stonecarver, I reviewed countless forums and articles, and finally discovered the fix by disabling the "show background image in logon screen" setting in personalization, lock screen, and testing it. The login picture I had selected was a high-resolution 4K image, which might have been too demanding while Windows and the desktop loaded in the background. Clearly, Windows isn’t ideal! Overall, it seems like the issue is resolved. I hope this assists other users here.
Wow, that's quite an unusual explanation for the software problem, but it works.
Great job fixing it!
