Windows 11 random BSOD with HYPERVISOR_ERROR and other issues
Hello everyone, I purchased my component over a year ago and haven’t faced any problems lately. As noted in the title, I experience random BSOD errors with error code HYPERVISOR_ERROR on Windows. It occurs occasionally while idle, during video playback, or when playing games. I’ve tried various solutions—contacting Microsoft support, reinstalling Windows, and using driver update tools—but nothing resolved the issue. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating. I have Hyper-V activated since I rely on WSL as my development environment and want to maintain that setup. I’ll share a copy of my system details in this post. You can access the last DUMPFILE here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...sp=sharing. I hope someone can assist me! My computer specifications are: Motherboard: ASUS ROG B550-F Gaming WIFI CPU: Ryzen 7 3800XT RAM: GSKILL TridentZ RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3600 GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 SSD1 (OS) : Sabrent 1TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD2 (Storage): Samsung 960 EVO 1TB PCIe Nvme M.2 HDD : Seagate BarraCuda 2TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850W 80 PLUS GOLD CPU Cooler: CORSAIR iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT, 360mm Radiator, Triple 120mm OS: Windows 11 Pro System-Infos.nfo
The dump file indicates you're likely inside the Insider program (Build 22581). According to Microsoft documentation, the BSOD reports nothing specific. The issue appears to be driver-related, but Windows couldn't identify the cause. Check Event Viewer for clues that might guide troubleshooting. With no further details, I recommend submitting a detailed problem under Feedback Hub. Keep in mind that WSL2/WSLg updates with each Windows 10/11 release under Insider, so a fix could appear in the next update. Ensure your BIOS/UEFI is current and all drivers—especially GPU, audio, chipset, printer, keyboard, and mouse—are up to date. My work PC uses Windows 10 with WSL2 enabled, but my personal machine (latest Insider) runs Windows 10 and struggles with RAM usage, making browsing slow. Welcome to the forum!
I'm part of the insider program, but I tested it to check if the issue would remain or get fixed. It didn't work. I enrolled before joining the program. My BIOS is using the latest version, and all drivers seem up to date (though I'm not sure). I've attached the Event Viewer screenshot.
Hmm, unclear about the connection because of the time difference, but what’s going on with those volmgr errors?
I just attempted to wipe all disks completely and reset everything, including setting writing to zero. It functioned smoothly for hours without any issues, but after about 30 minutes it crashed again due to a HYPERVISOR_ERROR. I’ve turned it off temporarily, though it’s still frustrating.
Things just became more confusing! I performed a full system wipe and reinstalled my BIOS, then did a fresh Windows install without using the hypervisor. Despite these steps, I still experience unexpected crashes. It’s really puzzling and I don’t know the cause.
