Windows 11 processes extensive data within the system settings.
Hey there, newcomer! I see you're dealing with a data-heavy Windows 11 setup. You mentioned experiencing high usage in the system stats, similar to a year ago when you fixed it with a firewall block on a specific .exe. Since you're on a metered connection, this is becoming increasingly frustrating as data usage keeps rising. You've tried adjusting settings like metered connection, disabling updates, and tweaking BITS, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. It sounds like you might have already found a solution in another thread—could you check there? Let me know if you need more guidance!
Is the network configured as a charged connection? The current display doesn't distinguish between local and online traffic, with most activity coming from within the system.
Thanks for answering. There's no exchange happening locally, I've disabled the windows update sharing options as well. The network is set as metered connection. My mobile data refilled 5 days ago, and to this day, I've used 60GB. I haven't changed my streaming habits, I assume about 20GB has gone on my regular activities, which leaves 40GB unaccounted for. I'm on a 180GB per month plan, so seeing one third gone in the span of a couple of days is annoying =). Scanned my system with antivirus just to be safe, but nothing showed up. Here's what I've done: Windows Update: disabled. Windows update sharing: disabled. BITS: disabled. Optimized delivery: disabled. Network set to metered. Closed all unnecessary background tasks. No download/updates from Microsoft store. No downloads or updates pending on any games or software installed. Windows Startup is the cleanest it's been for years =).
