Surprisingly, it remains unresolved. Let’s discuss this reason it isn’t functioning correctly. https://aka.ms/AAd2wty

The only comparable feature I've heard about is the auto HDR in DirectX, which applies only to games built with it. That means you need to enable HDR in settings first, and even then it might not look great unless you switch it on or off during gameplay or while watching something. Alt-TAB brings you right back to the beginning... It seems HDR still has a lot of issues.

The problem remains unclear for you. In most cases, enabling HDR only works in specific games, while others don’t show any changes. This inconsistency might point to an issue with the operating system itself rather than the game.

Discussing the operating system... When you enable HDR, everything in Windows shifts to SDR quality and appears poor. Videos and games might work if things align.

Sure, it's accurate—the window interface doesn't appear to support HDR features, and the button for it seems unnecessary. It's similar to other options that don't add much value.

The issue often arises when the OS isn't turned on, so Chrome doesn't recognize HDR and you miss out on HDR content. Even with proper settings, results can vary. It seems HDR support depends on fullscreen mode and specific GPU drivers like DirectX. Some players handle it differently, possibly using OpenGL internally.

I purchased the Acer Predator X35 (1000 nits brightness). It functions perfectly for me for HDR content. The main problem is when I turn it on—my entire backlight or nearly all of it goes off. I think a driver that lets me adjust brightness would fix this. Currently, the OSD disables brightness control when HDR is active, and even with SDR at maximum, it remains very dark.
