Hi everyone, I’m having trouble getting Windows to let me enable 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound in playback settings. The only choices available are mono and stereo. My headset is supposed to support 7.1, but I can’t find it in the settings menu. No matter what I do, it just shows as mono and stereo. The Realtek audio driver is reported as up to date, so I’m not sure what’s missing. Any advice or guidance would be really helpful!
It’s a wireless headset with a USB dongle that I’ve tested in all USB ports on my PC. The software named “Ngenuity” claims to enable 7.1 surround sound, but it doesn’t actually activate it—it just produces poor audio quality. This model is the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless.
It's honest to say I owned one of those 5.1 virtual surround systems from Logitech, and the software performed adequately enough to notice a change.
That’s understandable. The problem likely stems from using the wrong audio format for the game, which can cause dialogue to sound muffled or absent even though other sounds work fine.
unless the device includes a main speaker above your ears and a subwoofer at the back, a headset can't be labeled "7.1" since it requires both a center speaker and an additional subwoofer.
