You’re considering an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 mini PC on Amazon at a low price. The system runs an unsupported i5 6500T CPU, which means it won’t work with Windows 11 natively. Installing a workaround might help, but expect some limitations. Regarding Windows 11 versus Windows 10, the newer OS offers better performance and features, though compatibility with older hardware can still be a challenge.

Nothing major happened, just a problem when trying to run an unsupported CPU. I couldn’t play League of Legends or Valorant.

I don’t intend to play games beyond emulation. Should I, it would only involve streaming titles from my setup.

You have options to boot Windows 11 on your machine. It’s safe. Rufus – make bootable USBs effortlessly. This utility helps build a customized Windows 11 ISO that bypasses some random hardware tests and avoids requiring a Microsoft login.

It functions properly at the moment. Future performance isn't assured.

W11 ran on an old i3 for a while without any problems. Recent updates have been successful. The main challenge will be during the next major upgrade every few years. We can't be sure if it will work in future versions. Microsoft seems focused on the overall design and isn’t concerned about backlash when all PCs turn into e-waste in October 2025. By then, you might still decide to upgrade. I don’t need to worry just yet.

Others shared similar experiences. I attempted to run Win 11 on my laptop, which caused the temperature gauge to spike dangerously. I restored it to version 10 and everything worked fine.

Personally, the main worry is whether Microsoft will keep supporting Windows 11 on older devices going forward. It functions nicely now, but upcoming updates could potentially cause issues with your current setup.
