Hey there, I'm dealing with this bothersome problem.
My laptop tends to scroll down on its own. I don't know why this is happening.
What's going on?
When I open a page in Chrome, it automatically goes to the bottom of the webpage.
If I open Word or any spreadsheet, it scrolls to the last row, making typing difficult.
If I'm just on idle desktop mode, it picks up the last icon and opens the last app. This happens with any folders or files too.
What's even more annoying?
When I scroll back to the top, it again goes down. It feels like a tug-of-war :-(
What have I tried so far?
I've tested every possible solution—Windows Reset cloud download, updated mouse drivers, everything works fine with my hardware keys. I've also used an external mouse, but it still auto-scrolls. For a temporary fix, pressing the Num Lock key works for a while before it returns to automatic scrolling.
Please help people!

I've encountered this problem several times, usually involving a mousepad stuck in an "action" mode. It's quite simple to turn off in Windows 11 and switch to a standard mouse.

The ELAN Input device is no longer enabled in device manager under mice and keyboard systems. The system was restarted, but the problem continues.

When I began using Chrome, it would start suggesting searches automatically from the pop-up that appeared. This strange behavior seems tied to using a touchpad. Someone can assist me with this problem.

Did you navigate to Windows Settings, then Bluetooth & devices, and turn off the touchpad feature?

It might be a keyboard problem. Have you tried cleaning it or replacing it?

The keyboard keys function correctly after verifying each one in Notepad.
