Windows 11 high CPU usage continues even after reverting to Windows 10.
Hello once more, I’m seeking assistance. I previously shared a test regarding the high CPU temperatures after switching to Windows 11. My initial solution was adjusting the power plan settings to set the processor to 99% usage, which significantly lowered the heat. This worked well on Windows 10, so I didn’t repeat it there. I changed the thermal paste to MX4 and reinstalled the cooler twice this week just in case. I also experimented with Balanced and High Performance plans. However, after encountering FPS problems due to the NVIDIA Framework SDK service on Windows 11, I reverted to Windows 10 temporarily. Unfortunately, the temperature issues returned when I switched back. My CPU readings before the changes were: idle around 33–40°C, in-game peaking at 66–72°C maximum. After switching back, idle dropped to 44–50°C (sometimes spiking to 66°C), BIOS started at 50°C and settled around 39°C gradually. In-game stayed between 72°C minimum and 77°C max—possibly higher when only RTX was on in Battlefield 2042. My GPU temperatures were 53°C idle and 78–85°C during load. After the rollback, the numbers matched Windows 11, but now they fluctuate more. The BIOS readings are concerning since they weren’t present before the upgrade. I’m trying to avoid further tweaks to get back to the stable performance of before Windows 11. My cooling setup includes two Be Quiet 120mm fans on top, one Kolink 120mm in the back, and three thermaltake 120mm fans front. The specs are: MOBO B450 GAMING X CPU, Ryzen 5 5600X (cooled by Dark Rock 4 & MX4), a 3080 Ti GPU, 12GB RAM, and Aegis 3000MHz overclocked to 3600MHz.
There wasn’t any issue in Windows 11 that led to Ryzen CPUs overheating. Since I don’t own a Ryzen, I can’t confirm if the fix worked. Reinstalling might help resolve the problem.
