Windows 11 HDR Display Lag
Windows 11 HDR Display Lag
Hey everyone, I’ve been facing some odd problems with Windows HDR lately. Specifically, my mouse starts flickering and the refresh rate drops noticeably. The HDR feature was enabled since November 2023, and everything worked fine until today. At that time, I was just listening to music on Spotify and not using the PC for anything else. I checked my monitor settings—Alienware AW3821DW—and the refresh rate was set to 144Hz, but it actually refreshed around 30Hz. The issue shows up in games and apps too. When I ran a game with FPS tracking on, the frame rate seemed normal, yet everything felt like it was running at about 30Hz because of the display problem. Turning off HDR fixed the display glitch, but I’m curious what might have triggered this and how to fix it. I’m using an RTX 4090 with the latest Nvidia driver (version 551.76) and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. I also installed all the Windows updates yesterday, but they didn’t immediately solve the problem—just started after a day or so. Have any of you seen similar issues? Could the recent Windows update have affected HDR functionality? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
It occurred about three days ago. Running on Windows 11 with an AMD RX7800 GPU, using DisplayPort and a Gigabyte monitor. Chrome/Chromium ran very slow. You can resolve this by visiting chrome://flags, selecting "ANGLE graphics backend" and choosing D3D9.
