You're wondering if Windows 11's Game Mode is working correctly for your system. It appears to be limiting the CPU usage to just 6 cores, which might affect performance even when games run smoothly without it. Your previous setups had more cores available, so enabling Game Mode could help. Consider keeping it on or switching to all 12 cores if you want better performance.
The issue likely comes from adding data between the CCDs, which increases delay. I suggest using game mode; having six cores is still sufficient.
The delay between these components is now minimal and doesn't matter much. A tiny 0.1% variation might simply result from the CPU relying on the SMTP thread instead of using real cores by chance.
I believe this approach is deliberate. During the review of the R9 7950X3D, GamerNexus noted that Windows isolates the cores on the other CCD for better performance (see around 4:20). Regarding the specs, did you check if your chipset drivers are up to date? The current release appears to be version 6.05.28.016.
The chipset driver updated seems to have resolved the issue. I was playing at 6.02.07 around 2300 and now the game uses all cores instead of just one CCD. The performance feels better too. I was aware Windows prioritizes X3D cores during games, but I hadn’t realized this affected a standard two-CCD setup equally. It made no sense to pick only one over both since they’re identical.
