Hey there! I own a modern laptop with 8GB RAM, a 4C/8T processor running around 4GHz with turbo boost. It definitely meets the minimum specs for Windows 11, but performance isn’t what it used to be. After a fresh install of Windows 11, everything runs smoothly—no unnecessary bloatware and tasks stay within normal limits. However, simple apps feel slow to launch, typing is less fluid, and animations lag occasionally. I’m concerned because it’s not as responsive as Windows 10, even though it’s supposed to be fast. What processor do you actually possess? You might be running a 4-core or 8-core chip from around 2013, and performance hinges on the specific chip. Are you connected via a traditional hard drive or a faster SSD? An outdated or sluggish HDD could be the reason.
8th generation i7 processor, not quite the newest modern specs but I believe it still outperforms its M.2 storage option, so it probably isn’t the best choice for a hard drive.
just a quick note, looks like this setup took around 60 seconds to become ready on the desktop. that’s pretty slow for any browser, especially with plenty of free space available. it’s hosted on 21H2 and they just rolled out an update, probably 22H2. that update might be the issue. I’ll let it go and see what happens. drivers are up to date. today i installed Windows 11 in a VM on a server to check compatibility with my setup, but it felt a bit sluggish there too. I think the problem might be more about connecting to a server or a bare minimum VM rather than the OS itself. It actually ran fine there, though.
