Windows 11 doesn't recognize my headset as a proper headset—it treats it like headphones and ignores the microphone as an input device. Since I'm using Linux dual-booted on the same machine, it functions perfectly there, indicating the issue isn't hardware-related. I've updated the drivers to the newest version without any changes, and doing so again hasn't resolved the problem. Downgrading from Windows 11 is also tricky because the laptop comes with it pre-installed; otherwise, I'd switch immediately. I'm really stuck here. Anyone have any advice? I've faced multiple audio device problems in Windows 11, but this is the toughest so far.

Ensure your wired headset is connected. Open Windows Settings and navigate to System > Sound > Input. Verify the microphone section is selected in the radio options. Click the button labeled "Don't allow" – this should change to "Allowed." If you don’t see microphone settings, review your audio drivers; they might need reinstallation from the Dell website. Restart your device and the issue should resolve. Review your privacy settings: Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Activate the global "Microphone access" toggle and ensure "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is on. Confirm the app you use for the microphone is also enabled, not just a desktop app. Restart the application if it remains active in Task Manager before closing it.
