Your HP EliteBook 840 is experiencing battery problems during BitLocker decryption. The laptop shuts down immediately, but after a few minutes it restarts normally with the cursor working while other functions freeze. This suggests a power or system instability issue. Try checking battery health, ensuring proper charging, and verifying BitLocker settings. If the problem persists, consider restarting the system or consulting HP support for deeper diagnostics.

I think the weak battery might be making the CPU slow down excessively, especially while handling decryption. Check Task Manager to see its current speed.

Perform a clean Windows installation, back up your crucial documents. Also, check your BIOS settings and turn on secure boot before starting a new Windows setup—it might be the issue.

The CPU initially runs at full capacity, then drops significantly to just 3%, experiences a brief surge to 22-33%, and finally stabilizes at 3%. The system remains connected while the disk stays at full capacity, but the battery stops functioning.

What is the real frequency? If it remains at 0.80GHz, it won't be able to function effectively.

It begins independently and doesn't require any input.
