These files use a video codec like HEVC. For Windows, you might need to install it via the Store or use VLC or another player.

VLC handles a wide range of media, no matter what Windows offers. That’s why I stick with it even when using Windows.

Since Windows 10, native support for HEVC (H.265) videos isn’t available without an additional cost from the Microsoft Store. Previously, there was a free option for OEMs, but it seems inconsistent. Simply installing VLC will let you play virtually any video format.
