Windows 11 continues to shut itself down automatically.
I found this information potentially useful, so I’ll note it here right away. My Windows was set up as Windows 10 Pro with a low-cost activation code, and soon after the upgrade to Windows 11. I installed without an internet connection, and everything ran smoothly for over a year until I decided to explore customizing mouse activation. Initially, the default delay of 0.5 seconds didn’t suit me, so I adjusted it via the registry. At first, I thought it would be harmless, but it turned out to cause problems—my mouse icon would revert to its old Windows 95 look each time I booted up. I saved a backup before making any changes. After tweaking the hover time, the icon stayed consistent, though it reset on reboots. I still had some doubts about that setting, but I don’t recall it clearly now. I attempted to restore from the registry file, but it failed. Eventually, a system restore helped, but it introduced another complication: Windows would deactivate itself roughly every two or three days. Sometimes the activation watermark disappeared even though settings said to activate. When I pressed the activation troubleshooter repeatedly, Windows would always turn on. I tried numerous fixes—updating Windows, drivers, BIOS, using the scannow tool—but none resolved the issue. Even a free Windows key from customer service didn’t fix it. These challenges made me question whether continuing to manually activate every few days was worth it. Should I consider resetting the PC or opting for a clean install? It’s definitely not something I’d call a proud moment, mainly because I wanted to tweak mouse behavior.
