Windows 11 bugginess
Windows 11 bugginess
Hey everyone, here’s another update about Windows 11. I’ve encountered a few odd issues that haven’t popped up elsewhere, and I’m curious if anyone else has faced these. First, the default context menu in Windows looks a bit off—something seems missing. Second, when I open Settings, it appears in the taskbar but doesn’t show up on the screen. I have to click it to hide, then tap again to bring it back, which is a bit frustrating. The same goes for the Photos app and sticky notes; they seem to interfere with creating new sticky notes. 2022-11-18 10-57-38.mp4 My GPU isn’t listed in Task Manager anymore—it was there in Windows 10. Now, when I launch The Sims 4, the EA app stays on top and blocks interaction. I can’t minimize it directly; I have to close Task Manager and switch monitors, which isn’t ideal. Premiere Pro also crashed in a similar way, making it hard to open Task Manager and forcing me to use keyboard shortcuts. I’ve searched online but haven’t found any solutions or users with the same issues. I’m keeping an open mind about Windows 11 and hoping it works better, but it’s been a bit of a rough start. Appreciate any suggestions from the community!
This feature is why I consistently set Task Manager to "Always On Top" during a new Windows setup. Problematic applications like the EA App and unstable games often disappear. I've been using Windows 11 for about five to six months, possibly longer. Beyond typical concerns, I've noticed no major issues beyond occasional confusion about where things are located. Do you always enable this setting at the start of each installation? Is it preferable compared to version 10? I find it odd that your GPU stats no longer appear in Task Manager, though mine is minimal. Have you just upgraded to Windows 11 or performed a version upgrade?
It seems you're encountering issues with your GPU drivers or visual effects settings, and you're using a high contract theme.
no theme with contrast, driver updated, transparency effects applied. planning to reinstall windows. likely a bad batch during first setup! currently set as always visible, hoping the EA app won't interfere. can't remove EA or Adobe easily, especially since issues seem fixable. edited a few hours ago: reinstall failed, all problems persist. to be honest, I reinstalled everything including apps and data, not wanting a full reimage. backup around 2.5TB was needed or I'd have to download again at 50Mb/s (thanks Australia)—that's a big improvement over the 8 Mbps I had about three years ago. that's not the main point. if anyone has other suggestions before we decide, it would be really helpful. edited November 24, 2022 by missell
