I've been attempting to enable auto HDR on several titles that others claim support, yet the alerts never show up. The visuals appear as if they've applied tone-mapping to SDR images for HDR, similar to what you'd see on your desktop and in Windows 10. I don't have two systems with different resolutions—10 and 11—but I can confirm that none of the games I've tested benefit from auto HDR, only showing distorted highlights, washed-out blacks, and occasional color issues. The lack of a notification suggests the feature isn't functioning correctly. I'm using a Sony X900F connected via HDMI, and games with native HDR support like HZD or GoW display excellent results. Windows 11 also recognizes my device for HDR in its settings, so it's unclear what's going on. Only WoW and Dying Light 1 seem to work better, though the blacks and contrast still feel off.
I'm not sure what Windows is doing, and why they don't automatically enable HDR like Android does. It seems like the color space settings are affecting your desktop appearance. While I appreciate the concept of auto HDR, I don't want it always on or changing without my input. Since I recently got a HDR monitor, some games let you turn them on manually. I think they've faced challenges in getting this right, which might be a major hurdle.
