There seems to be an issue with Windows trying to access a network share that isn't available, which blocks Explorer temporarily. This problem occurs on both Windows 11 and Windows 10. The share might be disconnected—especially when using a VPN—and Windows attempts to reconnect but times out after a set period. It appears connected through the Quick Access panel, where frequently used items are listed. You're wondering if you can adjust the timeout setting so it doesn't exceed 5 seconds.

If Explorer becomes unstable, I open Task Manager and end the problematic process. Your taskbar will disappear temporarily—about five seconds—and everything will return to its usual state.

I understand I have what it takes. However, using it later won’t change the outcome, unless I’m ready to hold off—there’s a risk it might not work again soon. It’s more of a temporary fix than a permanent answer.

Open the command prompt as an administrator and execute the steps to remove the existing network share.

I won't let it go. It's working with a VPN, and I just want to reduce the timeout. No need to remap it again anytime soon.
