Hi everyone, after avoiding Windows 11 like a fish out of water, I finally chose to upgrade with a new SSD. My laptop has two SSDs: a 2TB one running Windows 11 and a 512GB one with Windows 10 (where all my work files are stored). For some issues, Windows 11 flagged the second drive as corrupted and needed repair. After fixing it, the second drive was essentially empty—just folders from my programs left behind. This has happened twice before. If I reinstall Windows 10 a third time and it gets “fixed” again, I’m worried about losing progress. Any tips?

Begin the migration to Windows 10 immediately. Dual booting both Windows 10 and 11 isn't recommended in the same system. If you require Windows 10 for work applications, reach out to your IT department to understand their strategy for the October End of Life. Would virtualization within Windows 11 suffice for your needs? Assuming no backups existed before the drive was erased, consider creating copies on an external storage device while you recover your data.

I’m having trouble reaching IT since I work independently. My Windows 10 SSD includes car diagnostics tools for brands such as Renault, VW, Ford, etc. I really need Windows 10 and there’s no clear option to move to Windows 11. I just want my first operating system to stay on the second drive if possible.

Additionally, my project has nothing significant beyond code files, which means I can recreate it repeatedly whenever needed—it's just a hassle for me.

The car diagnostics software is a tool for checking vehicle systems. If you're unsure, you can explore "virtualbox" to set up a virtual Windows 10 machine inside Windows 11. Many programs function smoothly across different operating systems.

Odd concepts, right? When dealing with a car project, functionality matters most. I’m sure it functions fine on Windows 10, which is all I need. Regarding BitLocker, it seems to let you isolate one drive while keeping the other active—maybe it can help keep the other partition separate without affecting the W11 setup. Just check if it aligns with your needs!
