I completed my latest build and started setting up a brand-new Windows version. It got installed without issues (the offline install for Windows 11 doesn’t let you do that, which is pretty cool). When I tried to activate it, it wasn’t activated. That caught me off guard because I assumed it was free, especially for the home edition. I was wrong—I only received an upgrade for free. Moving on, I’ve assembled at least two other computers and installed fresh Windows versions on them. Even though those systems were running Windows 10, I never paid for it and faced no problems with customizing the background or anything that would block an unactivated version. I always believed it was free, backed up, and given that there was a push to promote Windows 10, they assured it was free. Just remember, I didn’t do anything questionable—I didn’t receive an illegal key or anything similar. I installed everything offline and completed the process without restrictions. Hopefully, this clears any confusion about my experience. Do you have any thoughts on this?
The equipment they had wasn't restricted by those constraints. I manage everything myself. One model was all-in-one, and another was a completely new design.
