Windows 10 without sound.
Windows 10 without sound.
I thought posting this here would be better since it seems like a Windows 10 problem. This issue is currently affecting two builds. The first one used a 970 evo plus NVMe drive, did a full fresh install of Windows 10 Pro, version 1903. After installation and updates including the 1909 build update, the audio jack on the motherboard stopped working, though it worked before. It now only functions with the USB output to a wireless headset. The second one just upgraded to Windows 1909, but sound still doesn’t work through the motherboard audio jack—only via a USB wireless headset. I’ve downloaded the latest audio drivers from motherboard sites for both systems. Do you have a solution I’m missing, or should I revert back to the 1903 build and be fine? On my PC running 1909, audio is working perfectly. System One: Intel 9900k, Gigabyte Aorus Ultra, 32GB DDR4, 1080 Ti; System Two: AMD FX 8350 MSI, 990FXA Gaming, 16GB DDR3, 2060 KO.
Check your audio setup from the screenshot. When you open audio settings, make sure the correct device is selected. If you have several devices like an integrated audio out, USB microphone, and USB DAC, decide which one should be the default. Some programs might set the microphone as default even if it's not intended.
Quick update: System one, removing build 1909 worked. System two, disabling all audio sources except the one I need and still nothing. Plugging back in the 3.5 audio out cord gives no output device options; when reinserted it appears as "speakers" high def out. Mic in the jack also shows no sound input despite being detected. Both front and rear I/O jacks recognize a plug but don’t function. After uninstalling build 1909 and adjusting the NVIDIA HD audio driver in the control panel, results remain unchanged. I’m close to giving up after about five minutes.
