Yesterday, unexpectedly after a restart, my WiFi connection disappeared. After checking, I received the issue described in this thread. I searched online and attempted these steps: reset TCP/IP, adjusted channel width to auto, manually set IP address, updated drivers for my WiFi adapter, disabled antivirus and firewall temporarily, but nothing resolved it. Now when I hover over the WiFi icon in the taskbar, it shows 'unidentified network - no Internet access.' Anyone have suggestions? I’m not sure what else to try besides reformatting.

Have you attempted: Ignoring the Wi-Fi connection and trying again? Turning off and then turning it back on the adapter? Restarting the Winsock service?

Sure, I've also experimented with things like resetting Winsock.

Yes, I've updated the Wi-Fi drivers straight from the makers' sites.

You might need to source it from the gigabyte website since it's also affected by the 1709/1803 update

Gigabyte is the model in question, running an Intel WiFi card. The issue is that it's a friend's laptop, and I can't bring it back for driver downloads. I removed the card and let Windows install the default drivers, hoping it would at least let me connect and update properly, but it didn’t work.
