Hello, I'm working on upgrading from Windows 10 1909 to 20H2. The update keeps triggering blue screen errors, even after a clean install. The same "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" message appears repeatedly. At first, I thought it might be a hardware problem, but once I tried the new version, everything worked smoothly. I'm curious if others face similar issues with this upgrade on Intel 2nd generation systems. My current setup includes an i7 2600 processor, a DH67BL motherboard, and 2x 4GB RAM.

You experienced the BSOD during the installation of 20H2, but it happened after certain steps like Windows Update or driver setup. The issue seems linked to a hardware incompatibility rather than an old system or missing BIOS update. Microsoft recommends checking the BIOS, but your PC’s specs don’t match the suggested fixes.

Sorry, I missed this discussion. The setup works fine after installation, but it keeps crashing unexpectedly. The BIOS was quite outdated (BL0076), and I accidentally reinstalled it during a BIOS update (BL0162). After that, the CPU starts up but no POST appears. Updating the BIOS to the newest version directly didn’t help, and removing the old BIOS from the site didn’t resolve the issue. I’m considering replacing the CPU or motherboard and trying to get the system stable again. I might explore ways to salvage the old board.

I'm facing the same issue again. My system runs an Intel Core i7 2600K at 3,4GHz, using a Fatality P67 motherboard. Everything seems fine, but I can't update Windows. I'm stuck on version 1909 and don’t get BSOD while running normally. Only when I try to upgrade to newer Windows versions does it fail. The last successful update was on January 9, 2020. I’m confused about what to do next. Everyone says I should update drivers, but all updates are already done—except the BIOS, which caused problems before. If you have any tips, please share. I’m thinking about backing up everything before a fresh install, but I’m worried about losing data.

I experienced the same issues you mentioned. I attempted a new setup, but it didn’t resolve them. The BIOS update step wasn’t completed successfully either. Could you confirm if a complete reinstall was possible?

Same issue, but now it damaged my window setup. It won’t start and shows a fltmgr.sys error. I attempted a startup repair, but it didn’t help. I tried booting from a USB with Windows 1909 and ran a repair, but it says the system is already in an upgrade process—probably version 20H2. Bill Gates sucks and needs to quit his land deals, warning us we’re all going to die from COVID and fix his OS. Meanwhile, my access to the Ubuntu installation has been lost, though it might be easy to recover. I hope... My HP Pavilion laptop (i7 8th gen, 2TB NVMe, 1TB Samsung SD card) is working.
