Windows 10 version 1903 encountered an update check error.
Never encountered this before. Was everything functioning smoothly prior? Did this only begin after the upgrade? Also, please note "Working as intended" is required.
It's a typical process. You don't need to create a bootable USB; you can simply extract the ISO and run the installation directly in Windows. It has functioned well for years and continues to do so. I believe the update aspect isn't connected to it, but I'm having trouble understanding what that refers to.
I encountered a similar problem before, but it resolved itself after trying Retry later and restarting the PC. Probably didn’t need to restart it initially. If this doesn’t work, it seems like a blockage exists with the Windows Update servers—could be due to a firewall, security software, router configuration changes, or an alternate DNS server interfering.
Restarted Windows from USB and it didn’t improve. I’m using Cloudflare DNS in DoT mode, but no service seems to complain about it. It would be annoying if Windows Update were the only one affected. I’ve tried disabling it and even cleared the DNS cache, but nothing changed. Still, this is really frustrating.
I've turned off all the DNS stuff and left it in regular mode. But I find it bizarre since those settings worked fine with 1809 and I could update Windows just fine. But now I'm experiencing this stupid fuckery... EDIT: Ok, what the fuck. Now Battle.NET is bitching over internet connection when I want to install it even though I'm bloody connected and typing this shit online right now. WTF
I thought Battle.NET must be the issue, so it’s probably about the router. I remembered I was configuring keyword filters to prevent things like doubleclick and Google Analytics. I turned them off and the update worked again. @BigDamn I’m using an ASUS router with Merlin firmware and have applied ad. and ads under the keyword filter for URLs. It seems Windows Update relies on a standard HTTP connection, which got blocked by the filters. So with an ASUS router and Merlin firmware, you can likely completely disable Windows Update like that.
