Yes, it should be possible to update TP to the normal version once the patch is released without needing to reinstall the operating system.

It's uncertain how much the update will differ from the previous version, so a fresh installation might be necessary.

No details available yet. Seems like the clarification was missed earlier.

Check the documentation from the W8 technical preview. See if a fresh installation was recommended.

I put Windows 8 in when the first Dev Preview arrived, and once the full W8 version was ready I could upgrade too. Also, I believed someone at Ms mentioned it would be a straightforward upgrade from W10 TP to W10 RTM, as shared in a Twitter update.

That's really unexpected. So essentially, once you start working as a tech previewer, they might hand you a free Windows version?

With Windows 8 DP, you needed to purchase Windows 8. You retained all your programs and files without having to reinstall the operating system. But Windows 10 is entirely free, since it’s available for anyone using Windows 8 and 7

10 is superior to 8. I’ve got the tech preview and it really stands out for me compared to version 8. I never wanted 8, so I stuck with 7 until now. I’m satisfied. My latest build is almost finished, which means I might dual boot on separate SSDs just because I can. Plus, I think a tech preview is likely to end up failing eventually.
