It's a service that runs on a server, allowing you to launch the systems you wish to install in "PXE boot mode." They connect to the network to find a PXE server and deliver the required installation files, eliminating the need for physical media on each device.

Do you require a powerful Xeon server? Can I set up a small LAN network?

It's clear you're asking for a concise version.

The message suggests the process works with almost anything and that a lack of network connection indicates an error.

they're widely used by schools needing lab access to windows or VMs, though availability is uncertain. it's a subscription service where licenses must be renewed, often causing system issues if not maintained. the cost is high, and these tools aren't meant for regular retail use.

I really don’t want to end up with tons of CDs, and once I’m done, I’d like a whole swimming pool full of them.

Volume keys aren't ideal for selling PCs. They work best for medium to large businesses where most computers are used by staff or in-house. You fit the OEM role perfectly. These are cheaper than buying directly from retailers and since you handle machine support, you don't need Microsoft's assistance.
