Windows 10 suddenly fails to power on unexpectedly.
I've had this little gaming rig going strong for about two years. Went to turn it on today and it won't turn on. The RGB lights in the RAM and fans turn on. The fans spin and I can feel the Corsair Hydro CPU cooler pumping/spinning. However, I get zero video output from both the video card or the onboard/motherboard video. The monitor works and I used a known good display port cable and known good HDMI cable. No blue screen of death. No motherboard boot up. Nothing. What's my next line of troubleshooting? GIGABYTE Z590I AORUS ULTRA LGA 1200 Intel Z590 Intel Core i9-11900K - 11th Gen Rocket Lake 8-Core 3.5 GHz CORSAIR Vengeance RGB RS 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) EVGA GeForce RTX 3060
The response indicates that NumLock has been disabled or is not functioning as expected.
Check the PC after a while when it's powered on and see if the numlock light turns on with the numblock key. This suggests the problem is likely related to the video output.
Changed the RAM modules in reverse order. Tested each stick in every slot. Still no success.
I went to the garage and used the air compressor to remove a layer of topsoil from everything. After reinstalling it, it started working immediately.
