Windows 10 worked okay for a while, I've been using it for over a year. Recently, it keeps messing with the time—shifting forward 2 to 10 minutes and then looping back and forth between incorrect and correct times. This happens no matter what time settings I use: whether I let it pick the time zone, set it automatically, change the server, etc. It frustrates me because it messes up time stamps in Steam and other programs too.

I haven't tried resetting the CMOS yet. Would you like me to do it?

Frequently. I also looked at the motherboard battery and it remains above 3.2v, which is fine.

Ensure Windows Time is configured as Manual and verify the service isn't disabled. Did you apply any system tweak tools? Are you employing a dedicated firewall solution?

I applied W10privacy to remove some unwanted data mining, but it was over a year ago and never caused issues. There seems to be an issue with the Windows Time Service not working, I’m certain it’s not W10privacy since it was functioning before and the developer isn’t someone who randomly blocks everything. There’s no time or date setting involved. I’ve turned it back on at least twice, but it’s still disabled.

Yes, starting it manually from the service panel causes it to halt shortly afterward.

The timing issue persists even when the service is active or inactive. I realized the service turns off automatically in the basic date and time options, but it keeps shifting back and forth to the right time, sometimes randomly moving between 1 and 10 minutes. After resetting it, the problem usually disappears for a few hours.

I encountered a friend with a failing real-time clock on their motherboard. It stopped working accurately until the system synced, then drifted or froze intermittently. This issue persisted even after switching operating systems. Could your motherboard be quite old, or is there a possible fault?

I recently purchased it from a member here, as it's an X370. Given that it was released recently, it seems unlikely it could be that old. BIOS updates stopped a long time ago.
