Sure, you can set up a VirtualBox environment for Windows 10. Just make sure your VM is properly configured and try again.

Do you have the most recent update of VirtualBox? When setting up a VM, it should offer choices for selecting the operating system you wish to install. Pick Windows 10 x64 and proceed with the standard installation steps. (2 cores, possibly 2GB of RAM, fixed or dynamic storage. I favor a fixed size.) The remaining aspects will function normally using default configurations when installing the OS from an ISO file.

For Revit, it's better to run locally rather than using a VM. I'd set up a partition on your drive and install Windows there. Could you tell me about your computer's specifications?

It's a laptop built on an AMD A8-7410 with four cores, now running on 8GB RAM. I've also noticed problems with my main machine when trying to run Windows 10 virtual machines, even though it uses the VM for cross-compatibility checks. The other system specs are: A8-7600, boosted to 3.8GHz via BIOS, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 1600 MHz memory, and a GTX 1050 graphics card.
