Hello, I just finished setting up my PC. It’s a dual Xeon (L5420) system built on an LGA 771 server motherboard. To play games, I installed Windows 10 PRO and created a bootable 4 GB USB stick. After checking the BIOS, I tried booting from the USB but received the error message: "Error boot failure." Can you assist me?

Maybe your 4gb USB isn't working properly.. Try different USB port, try different usb.. I don't think it's a comoatiblity issue.. What have you tried so far? Maybe you didn't select it properly.. You have to prioritize it in boot, so it's the first on the MB picks.. play around a bit.

Adding to what @Light-Yagami said, did you make your bootable copy properly? Did you use windows media creation tool to create the book disk? If you didn't there's nothing for the motherboard to work with. And although it probably isn't a compatibility issue, could you tell us what the model of the motherboard is?

When working with the Windows Media Creation Tool, opt for a USB stick with more than 4 gigabytes. I've noticed sometimes it resists using just 4 GB. This might be due to my experience. Second, confirm your motherboard supports a USB 2 port. It seems this tool has trouble with USB 3 or 3.1. Verify the BIOS settings and make sure the media creation tool appears first as the boot device. Turn off any additional boot options like CD or DVD drives. Ensure only the intended drive is connected to the motherboard—disconnect any extra ones. Sometimes these extra drives disrupt the installation. Follow these steps and you should be able to proceed. Throughout, you'll need to locate, partition, initialize, and format the correct boot drive (your C: drive).

I didn't rely on the Windows setup utility. Instead, I saved an ISO from a reputable German software provider. I ran the application named "Rufus."

Use Microsoft Media Creation Tools at https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software.../windows10. Click the blue button labeled "Download Tool Now." This is the recommended method for installing Windows.

The site shows that the Windows Media Creation utility offers a choice between installing Win10Pro during OS setup. It provides a download link for the tool itself. After creating the utility, users can select whether to install Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro at the start of the installation via the USB drive.

Everyone using Windows 10 Pro relies on Media Creation Tools for their needs. It seems the person giving this advice might not understand the situation.
