I watched a video where Linus demonstrated how Linux performs well for gaming. I was really impressed and installed Pop OS onto my USB to test it as a live USB. After setting it up, every time I booted, the system asked me to press any key to stop the disk check, and the boot time became extremely slow. Previously, it would boot in seconds, but now each disk check causes a long delay and redirects me to the login screen. I also enabled disk checks, but they just take me there without doing anything useful. My hardware specs are a Ryzen 1700 OC with 3.8GHz clock and 8GB RAM OC at 2666Mhz. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you certain no software was added, removed, or even mounted the Windows drive during the USB boot?

While using PopOS, I installed Steam and Blender for benchmarking and accessed my hard drive with .blend files. This might influence boot times. I’m not very familiar with Linux.

Disconnect every other component except the boot drive (if you haven’t altered it) and observe its performance.

Sorry if I’m a bit bothersome—I’m not very skilled with these things. Is it okay to remove the SATA cable from my HDD? A few programs on my PC start automatically from it.

Your PC setup includes a solid-state drive for booting and an HDD with games, and you're using only unplugged devices when powered off.

You completed the task, and the computer started up much quicker, though the disk verification issue remains unresolved.
