Windows 10 setup halted during initial installation on my system.
Motherboard: ASUS A620M motherboard with a Ryzen 5 7600 CPU
GPU: Radeon RX 6800
RAM: Tforce 6000MHz 16x2
Storage: WD SN770 1TB SSD
I just assembled the PC, uploaded it and updated the BIOS. I connected a flash drive and started Windows 10 installation. The system is stuck on the OS selection screen—choosing between Windows 10 Home, Pro, and Enterprise. I selected Windows 10 Pro, but my cursor turns into an hourglass icon during loading and nothing else appears. After waiting about 20-30 minutes, I restarted the PC and tried again, but the issue persists. What should I do?
You're suggesting the flash drive already contained Windows 10. Was it a Windows Media Creation Tool (WMCT) version or the operating system itself? Ideally, you should have used WMCT to set up the OS. It would boot up and then guide you through creating partitions before installing Windows 10. This method would erase everything on the drive. Before beginning, disconnect your PC from the internet—either by unplugging Ethernet or removing Wi-Fi—to prevent interruptions during installation. After finishing, reconnect to the internet to apply any updates. It seems this approach works well for me. Take care and good luck.
