Windows 10 often feels odd. I moved a music folder into my downloads, and it gave the downloads a name based on that folder. In the sidebar, it shows "JBS Music Edition," but I can't switch it.
It includes a file named desktop.ini, which you chose to change. Adjust it using Notepad and ensure only these details remain: [. ShellClassInfo ] LocalizedResourceName =@% SystemRoot % \system32\shell32 . dll ,- 21798 IconResource =% SystemRoot % \system32\imageres . dll ,- 184 Close it, and restart your system. It may be a cache issue now, would you like to check cleaning options?
I've moved my Downloads folder to a non-OS HDD, but the disk was working fine. Occasionally, when I open the Documents icon from the desktop, it shows up alongside the Download folder—sometimes even without it. It's quite odd and inconsistent. I understand it might just be a cosmetic change, but it bothers me because I don't know why it's happening or what the reason is.
Your disk might not be ready when the folder appears. Return it to your primary storage, and the problem should resolve.
Updated the drive to main SSD-OS and icons remain visible. Still prefer downloads not stored on SSD.
That sounds intriguing... I'll attempt to recreate it from my perspective tonight.
