Hey! Did you accidentally connect your SSD to the incorrect SATA port? Make sure it’s linked to the quicker 6Gbps port.

The issue with the 840 EVO SSD involves gradual performance loss over time due to data degradation. Unless you have the latest firmware and haven’t run Performance Restoration via Samsung Magician, your drive will likely slow down. Using Samsung Magician to update the firmware and perform restoration will bring your SSD back to optimal speed and reduce boot times significantly. No system reinstall is required—your data remains intact. Interestingly, many users overlook this solution, despite it being a known problem for the 840 EVO model. Samsung doesn’t fully resolve the issue, but recent updates periodically refresh old data, keeping the drive functional as long as it’s used regularly. Speed tests with tools like Crystal Disk Mark should show normal results, except for the SSD Read Speed Tester, which may highlight the problem.

Hello, the latest firmware update has been released, but there’s no way to restore performance. The only solution is to optimize performance through the built-in Windows drive optimization that runs weekly. This leaves me with limited options—perhaps it’s best to adjust my expectations. Thanks for your understanding! Have a great day!

It matches the expected port. That way I could obtain those performance figures, I believe. Thanks

Superfetch remains turned off, yet opinions vary widely. Some advise avoiding it alongside an SSD since it’s not essential, while others insist you should use it. It’s hard to decide these days.

Your reported SSD firmware version is currently EXT0DB6Q. EXT0BB6Q and EXT0CB6Q are considered outdated. Regarding Magician, the special version needs to be installed; otherwise, the program won't detect new firmware. If you have an older firmware, you can find the latest updates on Samsung's official website—there are now bootable ISO files available. Concerning Superfetch, you can turn it on or off; performance differences are usually negligible unless your drive is extremely slow.

Initially, users struggled to grasp its purpose. They thought it was inefficient due to high resource usage and dismissed it. It works by storing frequently accessed programs in RAM, reducing reliance on slower storage only once. The first time you run a program feels normal, but with Superfetch active, the second run is noticeably quicker. There are significant variations in performance across different apps, and not all applications start from the boot drive.

Hello, most of my apps start from the boot drive, except for games. I noticed performance improvements after turning off indexing. It might take a few days for the changes to fully appear—please wait a couple of days and let me know if it gets better. Thanks for your support! Have a great day.
