For me, the opposite was true—after upgrading, everything ran significantly quicker. I even went back to a lower version just to check, and Windows 10 proved to be even more responsive.

Releases for Windows 10 are coming regularly, I’m not experiencing any issues at all—none of the problems you mentioned. In fact, my laptop runs significantly faster with Windows 10 compared to previous versions. Would you like me to install an update? It could help resolve your concerns. Also, with Windows 10 my laptop starts up in under 10 seconds using an SSD.

And listen, I’m using my laptop and everything’s running smoothly with Windows 10—it feels like a fresh update. Really, you can’t overstate how much better it is compared to Windows 7, which would just freeze unexpectedly for no clear reason for a few seconds, lasting months after its release until it got patched.

I don't understand the issue you're facing. My experience is with Windows 10, and I haven't encountered this problem before. I believe Windows 7 should work fine on a Skylake system.

It was a recurring issue for me from version 8.1 until I upgraded to 7.

only experienced a couple of issues with windows 10 so far. first, nvidia drivers after the upgrade (fixed quickly by uninstalling geforce experience and letting windows install it). second, it takes a while to fully wake up from sleep—display works but freezes if I try anything without waiting at least 30 seconds. this might be related to my ssd (patriot pyro120GB) rather than a windows problem. aside from that, performance has improved compared to windows 7 or 8.1. it’s not perfect, but the problems you’re facing don’t seem directly tied to the operating system. Could be faulty drivers or just impatience on my part expecting better results. I doubt you’ll notice any real improvement if you revert to windows 7.

Here are four computers in mind. Overall, it launches much quicker than Windows 7, the current SMB update functions properly, I’m currently using the 'quarter window' aero snap, and after Edge gets sorted, I might try it again. I also have fresh audio drivers installed. The only frustration (as with Windows 7) is that MS has made the "All Apps" menu look smaller again, which used to be nice seeing everything spread across the entire desktop.

I've tried Windows 10 myself, at first it worked great, especially with DirectX 12 performance, but then it slowed down over time. Booting was quick, yet Windows 8.1 behaved similarly. I think we're going to end up paying for that free Windows 10 update. Another issue is the feeling of being constantly monitored by the OS—if Windows 8.1 supported DirectX 12 soon, I'd never change back.

My Windows 7 runs smoothly even on the slow v300 SSD that many people dislike and filled with unnecessary files. A speed boost wouldn’t really change much for me. I’m hoping to see which games support DX12, since if Vulkan becomes popular it could keep Windows 7 running for a long time. Also, some motherboard makers have made special Windows 7 ISO versions for Skylake.
