You just upgraded your components and thought you needed a new Windows key, but everything seems normal after booting up. The warning about not being able to customize without activating Windows appears confusing since you haven’t found any settings that prevent this. Running an update resolved the issue, so it’s likely something else is blocking activation. Check if your BIOS or driver settings are correctly configured and ensure you’re using the latest Windows version.

You likely won't need to do anything extra. Check Google Windows activation and see which actions apply to you. You might need to contact a support line, or sometimes the system will detect something on your device.

The Windows setup is linked to the motherboard; altering it requires reactivating it. You can contact Microsoft and request a fresh activation code—this process has been repeated several times by me.

I'll check when I get home. I was wondering if upgrading from the B450m DS3H to the B450 Tomahawk Max might be seen as a minor change rather than a major one, which could explain why I'm not seeing a black screen.

I'll proceed as needed, but everything seems to be functioning properly so far.

It could be temporary data that vanishes once the system restarts. If you can switch wallpapers or your control panel shows the system is running, you should be okay. There’s no solid reason to reinstall after hardware changes—just repeated suggestions about why it might be necessary.

Sure, I’ll attempt it when I’m back. I’ll let you know if it looks good.

This should reflect genuine opinions, not just choices. Thanks for pointing that out.

It seems you're unsure about entering details manually. You might try calling the number and providing the installation ID, as it appears to be functioning correctly.

It seems the system blocked background photo changes, which might explain why I couldn’t personalize my PC. I reached out to support, provided my old IID, and received a fresh one—no more red watermark. Thank you all for your assistance!
