Windows 10 Purchase from a Store
Windows 10 Purchase from a Store
I just finished building my new PC, I'm looking for a OS now. Looking to grab Windows 10 when it's released. 1. Will Windows 10 be shipping on a DVD at some point? I checked Amazon and NewEgg both have the retail version as Digital Download or USB Flash Drive. I assume the Digital Download would be a ISO download meant to be burnt to a DVD. 2. Anyone know what version Amazon is currently carrying OEM or Retail? (URL: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01019T6O0/ref=...AMEG&psc=1 ) 3. Is their any reason to buy Pro edition over the Home edition?
The issue lies with the USB feature. If you don’t have a USB port available, it won’t work.
They offer a digital download with a product key, plus a USB version that comes ready to use. It seems he prefers a physical disc because of its appearance.
Unlikely. It would be more expensive for Microsoft to include a DVD with an FPP. The OEM version still includes a DVD for shipping any recovery media. I think the digital download would be an ESD file like before, which can be installed right away or converted into an ISO later (note: the ISO isn’t verified against standard examples—it uses ESD, while others use WIM). 2. Retail pricing seems reasonable. A retail version comes with a box, while OEM is more like a sleeve. 3. Active Directory, BitLocker, Hyper-V or VHD boot—those terms don’t matter much here. Home should work fine.
