Windows 10 proxy activates automatically
I've mentioned this before but it only became noticeable right when the giveaway started, making it go unnoticed. Generally, when I power on my PC running Windows 10 64-bit, the proxy activates after roughly 10 seconds. Since I don’t rely on proxies, some apps have filled in the proxy settings and keep enabling it afterward. I can disable it temporarily and then use normal browsing, but once it’s back on, I can’t access the internet because I’m not actually using proxies. If I restart the computer, it turns back on after booting. For a short instant around when it activates, a CMD window appears from the System 32 folder, but it disappears before I can see what’s happening. I used to have Avira installed, which might be the cause, but it still works even after uninstalling it.
It's tough to pinpoint the issue without a full review, but you can narrow it down by checking the internet settings on EDGE and IE, ensuring the proxy isn't active. Also, adjust the Network settings in Windows 10 to disable all options listed below.
Did you turn off remote access? Have you set up a VPN recently? Have you ever stopped Windows 10 from automatically installing apps and stuff like that?...like the example shown above...
Investigate the Task Scheduler feature in Windows. Try locating a solution that handles this task. It might exist within Microsoft's offerings or a third-party application. Malware is sometimes linked to proxy activation, but losing internet access due to no proxy connection seems unlikely. You may need to navigate to Internet Options/Properties, then go to the Connections tab, LAN settings, and verify the automatically detect settings option. It’s possible it isn’t enabled in Windows 10 settings app or older configuration menus.
It will resemble a folder layout, almost like a real directory tree. You'll notice separate folders for software such as ASUS, and within those ASUS folders more subfolders or tasks you can explore to get additional details. These tasks are generally operating systems or software jobs managed by the task scheduler. What I mean is that you actually perform these actions. There should be a method to set proxy settings automatically even when no task is running. But first, look for a task that activates proxy support!
Checked the task scheduler but didn’t locate any settings for enabling a proxy.
Is it possible the system is affected by a corrupted virus or malware? Did you perform a comprehensive scan recently?
