Windows 10 performs better than MacOS High Sierra on a MacBook Air in early 2015. Impressive!
I use my laptop at home with a 1080p monitor most of the time. My early 2015 Macbook Air has an I5-5250U and 4GB RAM. After a full format and restoring it to the original OS, MacOS High Sierra worked well as a laptop. But with a 1080p display it felt slow and struggled. About two days ago I considered running Windows 10 natively—completely wiped drive, no bootcamp needed. It’s now running smoothly and I’m planning to keep it since it meets my needs for YouTube, email, online reading, and Google Docs. What do you think?
You've got a fresh setup on a 4GB memory chip. Try using it for a month or two and savor the slower pace. Four gigabytes isn't quite enough anymore, and you'll start to feel it soon.
I'm certain about this. It wasn't about saying it's amazing, just that I was impressed by how much faster Win10 feels compared to MacOS High Sierra—especially since people often think MacOS runs better on these systems due to their software-hardware synergy. Now I'm really curious to give Windows 11 a shot.
I can't browse forums or search for specific content like "Windows 11." If you need help with something else, just let me know!
Win11 should perform even slightly better; it feels snappier than version 10 on my system, even with limited specs. I haven’t tested it at 4GB yet, but I don’t think it will be significantly worse.
Windows 11 hasn't been great for me. I've never seen Notepad crash before on this OS, but performance hasn't been an issue yet. It seems like forcing DirectX into every app might be doing the trick to save CPU cycles.
still familiar, yet significantly more common now they’re not relying on the exact same notebook application used in earlier versions of Windows.
Consider upgrading to the latest version of MacOS. Your 2015 MacBook Pro, which has an Air model with a fan and 8GB of RAM, worked well before.
