Hey there, I’ve noticed some problems with my PC lately. It’s been a few years since I got it, but the components are still solid (i5-4460, GTX 960, 16GB RAM, etc.) and it’s been running smoothly until recently. After installing the Creators Update, things started to decline. The system feels more unstable now, with noticeable slowdowns. Opera takes a long time to launch, websites load slowly, and closing them is taking longer than usual. File Explorer is sluggish, and login times are longer than they should be. I’ve also seen occasional game crashes, mostly when running servers. I ran a Malwarebytes scan, performed a disk cleanup, and reinstalled GPU drivers—none of those helped much. I’m really frustrated because using the PC is becoming a hassle. Any suggestions would be great, but I’d rather avoid reinstalling Windows 10 since I don’t have time and have a lot of programs. Thanks!

The virus is referred to as "creators update" and it's included in the spyware named "Windows 10".

After installing the update, my performance slowed down. I ran Ccleaner, restarted the system, and everything worked again.

I only heard a lot of nonsense about that update. But my thoughts on Windows 10 are straightforward from my earlier comment. I’m using Windows 7, and it runs flawlessly on my setup (it’s an older machine with some great components). My girlfriend uses Windows 10 on newer hardware, but she occasionally runs into problems. She hasn’t received the official update yet, but just in case she needs a Windows 7 desktop ready to go.

Sure, I’ll give it a shot later. Yeah, I’m listening, buddy. Just remember, don’t let your girlfriend install the Creators Update.

It's been observed that older parts like your i5-4460 struggle to perform well, and soon you'll need Skylake or newer to run Windows 10 smoothly... honestly seems like Microsoft is a bit stubborn. If you have an old Windows.old folder in your C driver, you might be able to go back before the update if that's what I'm saying.

I also attempted to use CCleaner but didn’t see any improvement. I’m still searching for a fix.
