You possess four licensing options: Retail / Upgrade, OEM System Builder (also known as OEM), Volume License Only, and System Builder OEM. The Volume License targets businesses aiming for bulk Windows purchases, requiring Windows Server installation and setup. It grants access to Windows 10 Enterprise. OEM licenses are available from partners like Dell, Acer, Lenovo, etc., and must be stored in the UEFI. These licenses aren’t transferable and are tied to the system. Retail / Upgrade offers a standard package including the product, manual, and basic support for upgrades or clean installs. It’s transferable. System Builder OEM is aimed at small businesses or individuals assembling PCs for resale, providing only Windows with no additional documentation or support. This license is also non-transferable and is activated on the motherboard.

I've gotten enough of that Activate Windows watermark, yet I still enjoy Windows 10.

The terms legal and illegal don’t fit here. There’s nothing in regulations that prohibits trading items for a different use. It breaches the service’s terms of use, but legally it’s not a crime. Piracy refers to selling or sharing something without paying the creator. Grey market involves selling without paying taxes on it. That’s the accurate definition. In software, it usually means the seller might not have paid the full price and could be violating the agreement they signed when buying what they’re offering.

A few people list items under MSRP, right? That’s the price you see on Amazon, around $100 USD. My OEM key comes from a recognized seller and I once paid €90 for it. But if you spot someone offering keys for just $5, you can argue they’re not all being sold for free. After all, you wouldn’t sell anything at a loss.
